Description

This famous line from the movie The Godfather “Leave the gun, take the cannoli.”, it is said, was symbolic of leaving the (violent) past behind and concentrating on the sweet future.

I love the bible verse that drives this home: ‘No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.’

Sometimes it’s not easy to leave the past behind. The holidays can magnify that. Painful events rear their ugly heads in a variety of results in our present-day life: our knee-jerk reactions to perceived slights; physical and or mental distress; unforgiveness. But to choose sweetness and reach toward growth and letting things go, is rewarding, even if it is difficult.

Just picture grabbing for a cannoli, to make it easier.
