In Philadelphia, the food groups are as follows: cheesesteaks, water ice (pronounced ‘wooder oiyce’), dirty water hotdogs and SOFT PRETZELS! This painting is a testament to the staying power of the cold, salty snack in any weather, at any time: stadium events, concerts, rushing to and from business meetings or art school, and as far as I can tell, they can be shipped anywhere just wrapped up, without the drama of dry ice or other temperature consideration. They’re just good. And if you’re walking around Philly, you don’t have to worry about carbs. You’ll wear them off walking, dodging traffic or worrying about whether the parking authority gets to your car before you can.
